During 1985 The Pacific Business Trust was established as a Charitable Trust to increase business opportunities for Pacific peoples in New Zealand. Its mission statement is “To assist New Zealanders of Pacific descent to start up, develop and sustain successful businesses.” The goal of PBT is to provide a central business resource that is relevant, dynamic and informative for Pasifika.

The past 20 years has seen the Trust proactively deliver services to the Pasifika peoples and the community. The Trust also encourages enterprise and entrepreneurship to the younger generation, at high school level, by holding an annual Plantation Business Challenge which also acts as leverage towards continuing with tertiary education and in is held in partnership with AUT and MIT.

The Pacific Business Trust’s focus is to ensure New Zealanders of Pacific descent are offered the best possible support and finance advice available from a dedicated team of Business Advisors. This business support is provided within imPAC training workshops, Pasifika Business fono, held in collaboration with Unitec, the Pasifika Unlimited seminar series and one on one coaching sessions.

The Trust’s head office is located in Otahuhu with regional offices in West Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Each office has experienced Business Advisors available to assist the Pasifika community pursue their business dreams.
Bi-annually the Pacific Business Trust holds the well known “Pacific Business Awards” which acknowledges and celebrates the positive Pasifika contribution to the New Zealand economy, their success and excellence as Pacific Business Leaders and potential role models.
The Pacific Business Trust is fortunate to work closely as long term partners with many organizations including the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
